I got these Alt-Bergs from a surplus store for $30. Almost no wear. I've used them a fair amount, and I like them a lot. They're a bit tight hut they're stretching out well. The front has padding on the top, which mashes your toes down a bit, which I don't really like. Besides that, they're great.

Salomon quest origins here. Second pair of Salomon boots I've had. The sole came unglued on the first pair, but dat 2 year warranty doe... I had a new pair of boots within a month and a half. Most comfortable boots I've ever had. Like walking on baby ducks.

The best boots I've worn are the vibram ones you get issued in the U.S. Army, those plus the thick foxriver socks feel perfect, I still haven't upgraded to the Reebok or Nike boots because I like these free ones.

What's the civilian equivalent, so I can hike in something that doesn't make me look like a tryhard?

Are my timberlands going to be good enough for hitchhiking/trainhopping? I dont plan on hiking in the mountains or in cold areas, but i will probably walk on a flat surface alot. I plan on doing this longterm, multiple years possibly.
