According to the second article I posted which is dated July 2012, it mentions BPA leeching in disposable bottles. It has to do with heat causing the substance to break down. What you're doing seems okay though because you said you clean only with cold water. However, you didn't mention how you handle the bottles. I'm guessing if you let the water sit and get hot that would contribute to break down.
I'd have to do a little more research to be sure because these two links were the result of just a quick google search.
Anyway, I can get why you use a disposable bottle. They're lighter, more readily available, etc. This chemical issue makes me a little weary, and I prefer the durability of a nalgene. The weight doesn't really matter to me.
