Hi. I'm graduating this summer and decided to go hitchhiking from England, where I live, east across Europe. Hitchhiking and walking both, actually, so I will be sleeping outdoors a lot.

My conundrum is weight and space, though. A typical tent is heavy and takes up a lot of space. So what alternatives could I use?

I've had one/two ideas so far:
>Tarp with roll mat (to make a lean-to or A-frame)
>Tarp & hammock
>Or I could bring both hammock and roll-mat so I could either sleep under a lean-to or in a hammock covered by a tarp depending on how I felt

Advice/suggestions? I'm expecting to be gone for at least a couple of weeks.
