>>81244Hey, I know you might not be around to read the reply, but /out/ is a slow board (which is awesome) so you should get back to reading this before 404.
I smoked cigarettes for 10 years before discovering the world of pipe smoking. As you don't smoke, you probably wouldn't know that you 'inhale' cigarettes (take a breath into your lungs after you've taken the smoke into your mouth.) Pipe smoking is completely different, you can inhale the smoke but really, you're better off enjoying the flavour of it and just keeping it in your mouth, and you have nicotine receptors in your mouth to get the nicotine hit anyway (which is what helped wean me off smoking cigarettes.) There will literally be no lung damage, only possibilities of mouth cancer, and if you look at the studies I think the current estimation is that you have roughly 10% chance more of mouth cancer from smoking a pipe than someone who is a non smoker. Living in Australia and spending up to 60 hours a week outdoors, I'll get skin cancer long before I get lung cancer (or maybe I'm just trying to convince myself that my hobby is comparatively harmless!!) If you don't particularly like the taste of the tobacco there are literally hundreds off aromatic blends you can get with almost any flavour you can think of.
I haven't had a cigarette in over four years now, and smoke only about 9-10 bowls a week (depending on how much I go fishing or how stressful work has been.) Pipe smoking is nowhere near as habit forming as cigarettes, better for you and costs less. Go for it mate, you won't be disappointed!
