I got struck when I was 16. Horrible thunderstorm/tornado in New England. Was legit huddled in the basement it was so scary - never before or since have I had to do that in a storm. Anyway, the house got struck by lightning and traveled through the conduit into the basement and arc'd through me, I jolted several feet across the room. The TV next to me blew and the screen was cracked and blackened, almost every appliance in the house blew. If it weren't for all that buffer I would probably have died.
