I had the pleasure (if you can call it that) of driving one as a rental last week. Wasn't as terrible as I thought it'd be, i've certainly had worse rental cars (*cough* fiat 500 */cough*), but as an "out" car, no fucking way.
It's marketed towards people who think they're doing the environment a favor, but have no understanding of manufacturing processes involved in batteries and electrical components (motors, PCBAs) or economics.
Strictly looking at fuel economy, sure.
But as far as "saving the environment" goes, lolnope.jpg.

The car itself was weird though. Big blind spots that aren't immediately obvious when you're in the drivers seat.
Starting it, there's no engine or transmission noises... just a chime, cute dashboard animation, and "Ready!".
Drive around for a little bit, and eventually you'll hear the engine fire up when you get up to speed.
"B" was something i've never seen on a gear selector before (for engine braking).
