Is it possible to light a charcoal grill using just some dried leaves and twigs? I would prefer to not use lighter fluid if possible and would like to avoid purchasing anything like a starter chimney if possible.

Yes, but it may take awhile. I've done it with cardboard, I made a pyramid of the charcoal and then stuffed some thin cardboard strips under the grate. For sticks you should probably get a little fire going then add the coal.

i always just use newspaper and kindling, nothing bigger than thumb sized. not that difficult, tastes better and coals burn more evenly..

They make those charcoal starter things that are basically a hobo stone with a handle on it. They'll get a grill full of charcoal going with just a couple pages of news paper.

Put the charcoals in your grill, then create 2-3 little holes, take paper towel, dip it in some oil, light it and put it in this holes, then cover them but not too much, so the charcoals around this hole will burn. like 4-5 minuets later get a hair fan/a plastic plate or something and air it, strongly, it should work.

not that guy, but if you get a simple torch tip, you can attach it to any camping propane canister as well

but any properly made fire will be fine

Threads/fittings for the green 1lb propane bottles are the same as the blue utility torch bottles. Neither one's more than $5.

The trigger-start head will set you back $20-30. Cheaper ones without the trigger aren't worth the hassle. They last about ever.

Little butane ones won't start charcoal very easy. Propane works nicely. MAPP works well too.

You are probably fine if you use better charcoal, but go buy starter fluid if you have cheap shit.
That shit threw me off wanting to grill for this month.

You are going to have a pretty bad time though op.
