I don't normally sleep well after smoking weed, but when you're exhausted from a day hiking it's fine. I mainly go hiking with a friend of mine in the Lake District and we wild camp. So once we've set up camp we'll go off and do our own thing for a bit, and I'll often take a walk and smoke a joint. You can hike for hours stoned, it's great for low impact exercise.

I've only been 'caught' once, camping at Red Tarn, near Helvellyn. Pic not mine but related. Some guy came to set up his tent and asked me "so where's the rave at?" If there's other people around I'll stop smoking out of courtesy.

Before that though I was just sitting, staring at the mountain, watching a group of hikers at the summit traversing their way back down along a ridge. Thinking about how vast and silent the mountains are, how if we could watch them from a different perspective in time we could see them form, and eventually disappear, even though sitting at the base watching it, it appears completely static. Being high makes me a lot more willing to sit and just think for a bit, it's a good way to slow down, which I think goes very well with camping generally. And while I'm doing that my mate's in the tent with his phone plugged into a charger block, watching 'Sons of Guns'.

That's about it? A nice way but not the only way to chill out and do nothing.

But that's not the typical peaceful camper and hiker with the little bit of the story he told. Wouldn't be suprised if it was one of the bum anons from the homeless threads. Ranger was getting constant complaints from families trying to enjoy a peaceful weekend innawoods who have to deal with tweaker bums who stay up all night. 10th complaint the ranger got this week about the bums keeping the tax-paying families awake but ranger can't technically kick them out so he writes the bum a fat ticket for greenery instead.

We'll get a half keg, some grass and some acid and just enjoy being weird in the woods; there's a secret campsite near us that's maintained by a group of anonymous locals; the rule is you clean up afterwards and don't draw attention to it, and you can make use of it; it's a lovely spot under some trees by a river, there's a bivouac and a fire pit, and a stone and wicker fence that stops any wandering acid casualties from falling into the water.
