So I want to get into this whole bass fishing game. I am a lifelong panfish and crappie hunter. I also dabble in fly fishing when the mood strikes.

I know nothing about bass.

I own a spinner on a 6' Med Action rod, spooled with 14lb braid line. I live in central NC, and do not have a boat.

So give me a shopping list, please. Lures, jigs, soft plastics, hooks, what do I need in my tackle box to catch some bass?

Texas rigs on the bottom have been pretty much the main thing doin it for me in the summer with warm water. They love shit with long legs like soft plastic lizards or crawdads. Different colors work for different conditions but these darker black and blue colors are great for somewhat murky water or running thru weeds and grass.

Once we get into fall, I'll run a lot more spinners and crankbaits.

So some dark soft plastics.

I hear a lot about the different brands. Zoom, Yum, Berkeley, Yamamoto, does any of that shit actually matter?

Should I invest, or just get the cheapest stuff that I an find?

The Strike King KVD plastics are nice but cost like twice as much as Zooms. But I will buy their swimbaits because the size and shape is perfect.

Culprit had some cool crawdads too with real long claws that seem to get a ton of bites.

Try a couple different ones out in different colors and see what works. I wouldn't worry about buying the most expensive ones.

Yum is like the cheapest, but if I want senko stick worms I will just grab $2 Yums instead of $8 Yamamotos. I like a lot of the Zoom worms instead though, they have different shapes and have better action on Texas rigs and shakey heads and shit.
