Dualsport helmet is nice for ... well, dualsport. And shitty weather (rain, hail). Hot days or trail days, I go with the MX helmet.
Goggles vs. sunglasses... eh. Sunglasses keep me cooler than goggles do, and I don't have the sweat problems with them I do with goggles. I will wear goggles on race days, when it's real dusty out. Otherwise I stick with sunglasses/safety glasses (both are z87.1).
I wear mesh street bike gloves almost exclusively now... snow, dirt, and street.
Knee guards, also a big yes. The cheapo ones kinda suck, I like the bigger knee-brace-lookin ones, but not full-on knee braces. They stay put better and last longer.
Race days (mostly on the snow) I wear hockey referree shorts. Enough padding for a wreck without being overly bulky/hot, and about a third of the price of the moto-specific stuff (better armor too).
Also, paintball elbow pads. The MX stuff's way too bulky.
