Is it possible to live innawoods or in a farm and be self-sufficient?
How much land would you need to realistically be able to satisfy your needs nutrition-wise?
What are the essentials in terms of gear and facilities?

yes, or 1 or 2 people 2-4 acres of field at least 1/2 of that garden, farm critters, chickens/ducks for eggs, more of each for slaughter, goats for milk/cheese, more for slaughter, pigs if you'd lie for slaughter.
If you get land that is partial wooded I would go 16-20 total acres (fire/building wood). You can 'hunt' your land any season as protection for your garden assuming in US.
Still requires electric at minimum, logically propane tank as well for cooking/hot water/back up furnace

Manageable, but I don't want the chicken coup under the bedroom window.
Most people can't fathom how little room plants need. 100 square feet can grow a years worth of tomatoes. And an acre is like 43,000 square feet.
