I have created a map to decide once and for all which are the best /out/ states. The criteria I have considered are:
1. Amount of public land (National Forest, Wilderness, National Monument, State Park, National Park, etc.)
2. Accessibility to these areas, both in travel and legality
3. Variety (in topography, climate, outdoor sports, etc.)
If you wish to make an argument to have a rating changed
-do not advocate for your own home state
-give a qualifier for why the state is better or worse and how much time you've spent in the state in the outdoors
-posts like >this state >x accompanied with a stock image will be ignored
