On one hand, I'm excited for climbing getting into the Olympics because it's a step up for the sport professionally, and it will bring a greater following to the niche activity. However, I don't think climbing is inherently competitive, not that it's a bad thing, but it being in the Olympics will cause newbies to focus on competing rather than the art form. This change is going to bring about a new generation of gym rats who will most likely never experience the sport to its full potential. I'm split on wether the decision was a good one, but it will certainly garner more attention to an under appreciated sport. (And the fact that all climbers have to participate in sport, bouldering, and speed is stupid. Each should be held separately, maybe even leaving speed out since it basically goes against the point of climbing)
