Just moved to Boise. Been doing a lot of hiking and some of the places in the foothills are full of bird activity. Recently realized there is an incredible conservatory for birds of prey along the snake river. It would appear that this BLM style conservatory is arguably the highest concentration of raptors in the entire world. I think I read that somewhere in India might be a rival. Either way, I'm going to dedicate myself to get more into birdwatching and really work on my identification skills.
Also, up along the Boise River in a WMA, I was just offroading and planned on doing some hiking, but stumbled onto this migratory bird research area. They were awesome and invited me to walk with them and help take the birds out of nets, identify them, explained to me their data collection, and I helped release a ton of the birds. Was an incredible experience for a couple of hours full of questions and a ton of great information. The people working there were super passionate about birds and live up at like 5,500 feet in yurts and tents for 2-3 months at a time. One was a total qt 3.14 too, so we hung out for a bit.... She has a b/f though :(
Birds are super comfy though, I really like them.
