>>834307Take your kids to social circles that are based around the activities you want them to be well-versed in. Ban/restrict them from using or participating in activities you don't want them to be doing. Don't let them hang around people who do things you don't want your children doing.
If you are a parent, BE a parent. There are no half measures. Don't allow media entertainment to raise your children, don't allow people who are fully into media entertainment to raise your children for you.
The younger a child is the easier it will be to do these things and make these restrictions. Very young kids want to emulate you and be a part of the things you do, no matter what those things are. You are their most-looked-up-too role model. That is the single absolute most important thing you can do for them in their ENTIRE life.
You'll just be kicking yourself in ass constantly if they are already teens and you try to do this. Instead, you entice them into it, instead of commanding them into it.
