National Forests

No.836099 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Hey /out/!

A friend and I are planning a trip through Colorado and Utah, and a big thing for us is being as cheap as possible because we are both broke as fuck. Not meaning we have shitty gear and are going to wreck the wilderness, we just don't want to pay $15 bucks a night when we're going to be hopping around anyhow.

So here's my question: what is the policy of dispersed camping in National Forests? This seems like a good option for us because we will have our gear and camping wherever we want away from other people for free sounds perfect. Can we camp anywhere inside a national forest? Where could we keep our car if so, just on the side of the road out of traffic? Do we need special permits to set up and camp for one night, or for our car?

Anyone got anything else on National Forests and camping therein?
