I want to get some good quality antibiotics for an extended trek I've planned, but I don't know how to do it. Doctors won't prescribe them unless you have an existing illness, so what can I do?

My doc will write me a script real easy for antibiotics. Just be honest and ask. It's not like you're trying to get 240 oxycontin or some shit, a reasonable doc shouldn't have any issue if you tell them you're going innawoods for a month and want something just in case.

do your research before you go, know who is allergic to penicillin and what you can and can't treat with antibiotics.

I just started browsing through Where (When?) There is No Doctor, and I thought I remembered it saying something about there are a few different basic kinds of antibiotics, some are good for some things and others for other things, etc.

Right now I'm still at the point where I know just enough to be dangerous, but I suppose the way I look at it is you should also be reading some books like I am and/or taking some classes and/or learning some basic first aid and medicine, along with just having the supplies.

I just realized maybe you do have the knowledge already and just asking how to get penicillin, but I suppose it's still good advice for others reading.

Damn, I didn't realize it was so easy to get that "Fish Mox" and all the other major antibiotics. I might order me a couple. I get sinus infections a bit ever since I broke my nose and that shit will be much easier than going to the doc. It is cheap too. <$20 for 100ct of 500mg amoxicillin.

This. You can get them as a profilaxis. I went to a physician and told them that I was going to spend 2 weeks in central america (which was true) and was given a regimen of some doxycycline for malaria.
Just be honest and it's not an assue
