Unless you're driving you can't transport much water.
10 days is 30kg which is heavy.
Then the unexpected can happen, like heat stroke. Happened to me once and I poured out half of my water into the sand, thought it would cool things down.
Another time I had enough water but crossed path with another adventurer who didn't, it ended up with us being thirsty and we had to scavenge for water.
So to me it's better to plan a head and always know where there is water.
