Boots or Boots

Hi guys. Next week i'm going on a trek in the Carpathians. Weather should be good, terrain is rather rocky, kinda like pic related. I have two pair of boots that are kind of appropriate but not quite. One is a pair of tactical boots and the other is a pair of Palladium Palabrouse. Which one would you choose? And no, i won't buy a pair of real hiking shoes :^)

OK, that's not a lot of weight but I'd still probably wear the black boots because they're leather and will take abuse better (rocks, mud, brush, etc).

You could probably do it in the Palladiums, but they're nice looking and there's no point in trashing them on a hike.

I hiked Mt Fuji in Palladiums and never want to hike in them again. Sneaks far out perform Palladiums for hiking. I wouldnt waste time on the tactical boots either, they'll be heavy and will tire you out quickly.

As long as your ankles are brittle as glass (like an office worker who only walks from their door to their car to their desk) then you'll be fine with just trainers

I hiked in palladium monochromes once, similar style to yours. I don't recommend them for hiking more than a few miles, the arch support is nonexistent and offer little cushion and less warmth.

That being said, holy hell they are well made. I hiked 20+ miles in them, dropped them in a river, fire dried them and accidentally caught one on fire which melted the laces off, replaced the laces with paracord and kept on trekking through the rocks. Hurt my feet but impressed me with how well they held together, especially for "hip, urban" boots

Yeah,i wear the palladiums at work every day and while they are extremely well made(they do have a military lineage), are stiff and have almost no cushioning. So you guys are right, boots it is. They're actually very light for their size and i have some gel insoles in them for extra cushion.

I hike in Palladiums in hot weather as I find the unlined canvas pretty good at keeping my feet cool and the rubber toe box is enough protection. They're not, however, warm enough to hike in the rest of the year and I wear regular boots then.
