I have both the silver and the black, my brother has the gold. It exudes 80's charm and it got damn bullet proof as a watch. Time, date, day, alarm, stopwatch, Indiglo for easy effortless reading anytime and the battery lasts for years. They are 30 bucks.

I wear auto's because i'm a watch snob. Automatic movements are fragile though, relatively speaking. Innawoods, i usually wear my SNZG13j, or my Glycine Combat Sub.
If you want something really robust get a g-shock.

SNZG13 is a nice budget auto field watch, if you want auto.

Each one is hand assembled in Kansas City at Jules Borel & Co. Dude I bought mine from has had one in his shop in a jar of water for 2 years and it's still going. I wear mine skiing and haven't had any problems. I dunno about full exposure for hours (it's inside my sleeve are under part of my glove most of the time), but I think it would hold up. I've worn it many times for a whole day out and never had a problem. The thermometer can get wonky and read your body temp. (I'm fairly certain it's not 96 degrees on the mountain) but honestly I rarely use that function anyway. Not gonna lie, I'm clumsy as hell and gotten snow, ice, mud, etc. in the sensors and such and it still works perfectly.

I pack a compass in the backpack IN CASE I get lost and it'll always be more accurate than the watch.

It's been incredibly comfortable and rarely gets caught on clothing - Only time it does is when I want it to like in pic. Has a lot of nifty features I really don't use, but it's been worth it. TFW the only time I had to replace the battery was right as I arrived at my camp site.

The Sunnto Core has been pretty rugged for me, there's been times where I've knocked it against rocks / steel and thought it would crack but there's been nothing catastrophic yet. I will say that the Low Battery icon is a bit subdued, I never noticed it until the watch was already dead, but again that may have been because I was leeching the battery so fast having the storm alarm on 24/7. There's been minor wear and tear on the paint but I feel that's to be expected from any watch that's painted black.

I can tell you that I've seen both used, the problem with the fenix is you need to charge it with it's snowflake charger, i own both a fenix 1 and 2, I've used them extensively they are pretty rugged, but they are a little pretty for field work. And i solve the charging problem by having a 5590 scavenger in the field

I use a Garmin Vivofit 2. they have newer models including ones with a heart rate monitor but i think this one is perfect. doesnt look too bad, isnt bulky, battery lasts about 10months with active use, waterproof unlike fitbits, tracks your steps and mileage which is useful when on trails to know where youre at based off of distance, and ties into your phone when theres signal available to make pretty accurate mileage and height gained measurements

My only thing is the latch sometimes gives if you pull too hard on it cause it is all rounded. Just have to check every once in a while to make sure its still locked.

You're probably thinking of the timex, I have super sensitive hearing and the casio makes no noise. The only possible way I can hear it is if i'm in a quiet room and press it directly to my ear.

There is a couple Timex watches that I wanted, luckily amazon reviews stated they were super loud. I agree I don't want a watch that makes noise.
