Pick up bushcraft. You can learn what plants are safe to eat, how to skin and process animals, make shelters, start fires, make animal traps. Bushcraft is a real way to learn all that fancy survival stuff you see on TV. Get and hold a decent job so you can pay for your gear. Learn to take care of your gear; sleeping bags mold, sleeping pads puncture, tents tear. Learn how to manage each and every piece of your gear. Learning how to sew is just as manly as learning how to sharpen your knife. Both of which you will need to do. You do not need a assault rifle or 13 other guns to survive. A single good rifle and a side arm is all you need in regards to fire arms. No need for a tactical vest. You're not going to go attack a drug pen or are expected to be in a shoot out. Learn what clothing is good to wear in what environments. Natural clothing does wonders in the cold, so wool of any kind.
Just don't be a fucking idiot and be smart about it.
