I'm a street performer in Chicago. I do the tin man on one of the main shopping streets.
My costume is a silver spray painted suit and hat, with silver body paint on my hands, face, and neck, along with sunglasses.
I stand completely still atop a silver painted box like a statue until someone puts a tip in my bucket. When tipped, I do the robot and a bit of popping. I've been dacing/botting for awhile now and got some skill, so once I start, a crowd builds and I'll get more tips.
I make about $28 to $45 per hr, more in the summer, less in the fall and spring. I can only work about 5 hrs max before I have to stop from physical exhaustion.
This is the perfect job for a nomad, as all I need is a small amount of body paint, sunglasses, and a hidden mouth whistle (robot noises) and you can perform and make money anywhere. I can also work when I want and stop when I want, as the money is always there, and I can save, then stop and travel, save, then stop and travel, etc.
