i hear that wild boars in the US are major pests. does anyone here have any experience with them and are they worth hunting/eating?

A couple of them ran in front of me when I was out camping & hiking alone. I'm lucky one of the stupid fatsos didn't try to charge me. If you're not out west, they're the only real reason to take a gun with you. Black bears are babies but these pigs are mean.

Flavor really depends on where they were and how they were processed.
I love deer meat, but I've had some wild hog that was so gamey it tasted rotten.

They're great to learn how to hunt.
You can normally shoot any that you see.
Deer have a lot of regulations- my area has gender days- sometimes you can only kill males on this day, then the next day is female only.
Wild boar you can kill males, females or newborns and no bag limits.

If you like pork then you would like boar.
the meat is a little dirtier tasting and much more leaner than the pork you get in the stores, but the belly and rump have good amounts of fat for slow roasting. I am spoiled because my friend owns a bunch of property and lets us kill as many as we want throughout the year, just cant bring my dogs which would make it a lot easier to get the smaller ones which are sweeter and easier to process. I have two 60lb butterflied and waiting for thanksgiving to throw in the pit for a kahlua roast.

Been hunting for wild hogs since I was little. Recently we've either been killing them with suppressed rifles so we don't scare the others off, or we capture them and kill them with a big ass knife. Pretty fun and the meats not bad either.

Here in Western Europe, boar is the best meat of wild animals you can get. In my opinion it's also much better than pork when it's served correctly.

Cant find pics, but he just built a 3 foot tall metal junk pipe box and welded cow panels to it and threw it on the ground. 1 small spring on a door that only swings in. Pig walks in and stuck. Harvest bacon. Rinse and repeat.
