>be 23 years old
>decide I want to travel the world as at backpacking vagabond-slash-/out/ist
>have no money
>if I drop out of my studies I have to move out of my dorm February 1st
>fuck it, time to work hard
>buy a ticket out for 20th of January
>take ALL the extra shifts at work
>working an average of 200 hours a month
>will leave with at least $10.000 in my account
I have two days off in October, 5 in November, and 4 in December. Living frugally while I travel, plus getting work visas and jobs, and I should be able to extend that money to at least 4 years on the road, visa fees and tickets taken in to consideration.
Old men of this board, am I insane for doing this? I don't want to waste my youth hunched over books to end up with a degree I'm not even guaranteed a job with. I do have 10 years of part time experience though, the last 4 being as a hotel receptionist/concierge.
I want to get out there. Stargaze in the Canadian deep woods. Fish with a net in the Maldives. Cook over a campfire in the Japanese mountains. Visit a city here and there, work a bit, travel onwards. I have 8 years of outdoor experience on top of military training, so I don't doubt I can do this.
