Suturing also requires knowing your dermal layers pretty well. Without having any training, like med school, where you work on cadavers, simulated skin and the like, you aren't gonna get even close to doing this right.
Stitches arent there to keep you from bleeding out, they're their to get a wound to heal in a controlled manner and minimize scar tissue. If you are "surviving" you shouldn't even be remotely concerned with having an ugly scar from a bad cut as much as you should be concerned with putting pressure and packing your wound with something clean to stop the bleeding.
Even if you get past everything else. Have you ever had stitches without a local anesthetic? Good luck doing them on yourself and keeping a steady hand.
