I spend weeks at a time out when it's cold so I value a balance of fuel conservation and heat the most. If there's something I'm missing I would genuinely like to know what it is? I go out alone mostly so I don't get to compare notes that often. When I occasionally do go with a group it's not an experienced one and they're there for the bush party, not the bush itself.

It was like watching an avalanche slowed down several times and when It swept in around the site it actually dampened my clothes. Never happened again since, but I always stay to put the fire to bed just in case.
