BIC is super easy some of the time,
Ferro rod is super easy other times.
BIC suck if there is a bit of wind , ask any smoker , (yeah i know block the wind, sometimes i cant get it blocked enough i guess). Then if it gets wet your waiting for it to dry.
Ferro rods work in windy conditions and wet, if you actually use the striker and not a knife the amount of sparks and the intensity of the heat is amazing, it will light your tinder in almost any condition.
but why not carry both? they are both dirt cheap now, the dollar stores here carry ferro rods now and they throw an awesome spark, and they also sell BICs , so for 2 dollars you can have both and you are prepared for any kind of situation.
seriously wish people would actually try ferro rods on even a dryed up leaf and see how easy it is. We are not talking flint and steel here. Its nearly instantanous
