>>889219You need the hammock, a tarp, suspension, and insulation.
Get a hammock that is at least 10 feet long, but 11 is ideal imo.
Suspenion there are several options. The most simple is a Daisy chain style strap set up. There are also whoopie slings and toggles, cinch buckles on straps, and a few others. All are pretty simple.
Insulation can be as simple as a sleeping pad and sleeping bag. You definitely need insulation below you. Laying on a sleeping bag in a hammock son presses the insulation and you will get cold. A pad words, but an underquilt is much better (and generally more expensive). What underquilt is best is a whole new thread.
As for a tarp, a simple tarp for a hardware store works if it's big enough, but they're heavy. Special camping and hammock tarps are much much lighter, but also much more expensive.
You can buy a hammock with a bug net, or get one without and add a bug net.
I belive Hennessy hammock sells hammocks in austrailia. Theit hammocks have the hammock, suspension, bug net, and tarp all together. They are a nice option. Make sure you get one that's big enough, some of theirs are on the small side.
