That's the adrenaline rush I guess. I don't tent anymore in Grizzly country, only a camper.

Best to try and climb like OP's pic, worst case scenario play ring around a big tree. If no trees then get to a slope, they can only go straight up or down a slope. you can move across it and they can't follow.
If no slope or tree then you got to go it with your knife or hands. Thumb or stab it in the eye.
Most of the time they avoid you and you can observe at a safe distance. The only time they will attack is if you got between a female and cubs, a male is being territorial, or it just came out of hibernation and is grumpy.
I've had a few first hand experiences with black bears at campsites and in the bush, the garbage bears are the aggressive ones, never had first hand with grizzly or brown but that's what bush people tell me. lol
