I live in a mobile home on 1.8 acres. I spent $79K total on a 3 bedroom single wide, land, hookups, etc. but the land already had utilities and all on it. If you're buying remote land, it'll cost extra to get it zoned and residential ready.
>>884628It depends on the location. Most city jurisdictions wouldn't allow it, but if you buy land in a rural county, you should be able to. Expect to spend ~$100K tops. You can get a brand new single wide for ~$45K and then say $20-30K for land. Then getting utilities hooked up, a deck for the front and back door, a shed for storage, etc. You could buy an older trailer for much less but they're money pits. Newer homes aren't much better. Expect to be replacing one every 15-20 years. If you are handy and/or know some friends or family in the trades, you could build a small cabin which would last much longer.
>>884661I forgot about driveway and foundation. You could just it on cinder blocks depending on codes, or a concrete slab.
>>884682Take that autistic meme shit to /diy/. They "love" those threads. There's nothing wrong with building tiny homes or converting barns, but converting a shed is humiliating and retarded.
>>884735Yurt living is impracticable. I've known a couple and guy that tried Yurt living. Neither of them lasted longer than 2 years before selling or building a permanent home. There's also laws in many places about living in a "temporary" structure.
