For a long time i had a BushcraftUSA 10x10 SilNy
then i gave it away to someone because i was being a huge faggot.
that thing weighed around a pound and a half if im not mistaken.

Economist here. That "revealed preferences" argument only works if you include msr and Wal-Mart's brand equity.

There have been lots of studies of the price-quality correlation, using many methodologies, of de-branded consumer package goods. Overall, the correlation is significant, positive, but very weak.

So price is a very weak indicator of quality. There's plenty of expensive crap, and cheap but excellent products.
