>>894525Definitely means something is up. Depending on the person, when you hear quiet sometimes your hair stands up or you get a feeling in your gut. I've legitimately felt something in my gut that didn't feel right and I've turned around on a trail before. Just got a sketchy feeling so I trust it. It wasn't the forest going dead silent, but it's a similar situation. Could have been nothing, could have been a meth head or skinwalker. Hasn't led me wrong yet and it only happens rarely.
As for the quiet, definitely pay attention to it. As
>>895532 said, squirrels chatter up a storm if somethin is weird. If the entire woods and EVERYTHING goes still and completely silent, go on red alert. Where I live it's usually a mountain lion that will cause that, but there are other bad things in the woods I don't want to tangle with. I'm not a big skinwalker/samsquamtch kinda guy, but I don't discount the possibility. If I ever hear a totally still and quiet forest, I'm pullin' out my pistol and heading back the way I came. Kinda like some animals can tell when a storm is on its way or some people believe animals can sense spirits or ghosts. I'm not a big fan of /x/ shit but I do believe there are other things out there that I'd rather not tangle with. This is an old ass planet with lots and lots of land and wilderness... Who knows what's out there?
