Northern Bushcraft, if you can get a hold of it is absolutely fantastic. A little easier to find would be his book called "Bush Craft: Outdoor Skills and Wilderness Survival". Also has a bunch of short instructional books. Like "When You Meet A Black Bear", "Top Seven Bush Knots and the Use of the Windlass", "Map Use", "The Compass". The list goes on and on and on. Its a shame he's not more well known.

"Camping and Wilderness Survival" by Paul Tawrell is pretty good. It covers almost everything, although some reviews say there is too much detail, could have been edited down a bit. I like the section on animal trapping, which would be useful in emergency food situations.

"The Complete Walker" by Colin Fletcher has been considered by many as the backpacker's "Bible." I have the first edition of it, given to me by my parents a couple years after it came out. Also I have the last edition, which he co-wrote with Chip Rawlins. He wrote from experience. After serving as a Royal Marine in WWII he travelled around a bit, then hiked the east side of California from Mexico to Oregon in 1958, wrote a book about the trip: "The Thousand Mile Summer." Fetcher is credited with getting a lot of people interested in backpacking in the '60s. Sure did inspire me, but I don't get out there as often as I want to anymore.
