>>894288Yeah, and the reason fleece is good or active use because it's highly breathable and lets out excess hot, humid air. Putting a wind shell over clamps that down, which you'd want to do when you settle down and the wind is taking away more heat than you're making.
It's not all that different than a puffy: polyester insulation with the air trapped inside with a nylon shell. What I don't know is how different weights of the two insulations compare.
Why? Because I'm reassembling kit after wearing most of it out, and I'm interested in trying to get a more versatility-less items kit, for both practical and financial reasons. If a windshell can make a fleece replace a puffy, that's a lot more versatile setup, and I don't need to buy another puffy I'll kill in a season or two.
As for /out/ cred, I'm not some super wilderness athlete, I boulder a little but whatever, but I've camped for over a month twice in winter and once in summer. Put on a fucking shell and trap some of that hot air in and stop doing this stupid game where you assume people are or aren't ~real outdoorsman~.
