I took a bus from buenos Aires to Bariloche in the winter. Cool town but mostly Brazilian tourists their to ski. Lovely nazi chocolate shops :^)
Then we went south. Most of the region i was in is windswept and barren until you get into the lee of a crop of mountains.

The really dramatic stuff is much farther south. Another neat trip was puente del in a and aconcagua
