I've got a 2 lb hatchet and the handle grain is horizontal and starting to split. It feels a little small for two hands but it's really fatiguing to use with one. What would be a good length to make a new handle?

2 lbs is too much to use with one hand?

I spend sometimes hours a day swinging a 1,2,3, and sometimes 3.5 lb hammer all day and it's not that fatiguing

buy a regular long handle then cut it and check it out. if it's not comfy cut it again until it is

cut it from the top and shape the insert btw. it's less work than making a handle and it will probably be more durable. it will at least give you practice.
