Yes, a whole host of other things are better than canned soup. I have canned soup almost every evening meal because I have no idea how to cook properly and I know that Campbells Hearty Beef Stew is nutritious, but that shit does not even come close to my dad's homemade beef and vegetable stew.

You can even grab bits with a fork and taste them to see if they're cooked or not.

You can do better, like searing the meat before you put it in or a bunch of other stuff, but ultimately you're just putting a load of stuff in boiling water - and if you can make a stew, then you can pretty much a basic chilli or curry too.
