Outdoor hobbies seem to cost a lot more than indoor hobbies.

Is there anyway to hunt/fish/hike and get paid for it, even if your not very good at it, but have tons of "free" time?

I'm a farmer, I count how many cows I have in the morning, if they're all there, I do whatever I want.

Then I sell some and make money,

I could literally get away with 7 hours work per week and earn $50k a year

Not really. Closest you could get is working for Fish and Wildlife, and that's depending on a lot of factors and what job you have and so on, and even then you're not camping, hunting, and fishing for your job.

Fishing is cheap as hell. And if you just want to pop squirrels and birds with a pellet gun or .22, that is cheap as well. And hiking is literally free.

Idk what indoor hobbies you are thinking about but fishing and hiking are both really cheap compared to most other things you could do in your free time. You don't need a $400 custom knife to walk down a nature trail.

I'm a NEET who is forced to live in the city with no transportation. The most /out/ I get now is walking my dog. I hate it so much. Not the walking the dog part, as that's great and we explore where we can. I miss the woods though. I miss being able to go out and do stuff and not worry about anything.

TV is barely a hobby and music is expensive as fuck if you want to do anything beyond very very basic trash guitar strummin. yeah this.

Not sure what indoor hobbies OP is talking about. I play guitar (indoors), electric guitars, amps, cables, pedals, even strings, all expensive. Computers, same, you can spend hundreds, thousands, easy on gaming. Photography, even more expensive than outdoors.

I'd say going inna has a running cost. I got to keep 20-40 quid for petrol, a little outlay for fuel, but once you got your gear you don't have to spend anything more than that really.

Yes, but not directly. I'm a sound engineer and lecturer, and I started my /out/ nature recording channel and soundcloud when I had time betwen jobs. I ended-up really getting into it and growing it, so it's lent me some positive exposure and, and it's kept my professional profile/resume as a "soundie" looking fresh. So my hobby of going /out/ to record in the long-term has helped me get gigs and license recordings and stuff.

The amount of time I spend fishing I could get a commercial license and sell the fish I catch that would at least cover the cost of my trips and gear, but I wouldn't make a living off it. I could do that, but then it would take the fun out of fishing because all I would be worried about is the money.

Also for hunting, there's deer with tags that you can return to the forest officials for a $100 reward for population control, but hunting is quite boring to me. I have a NEET friend that does it for a living. He makes about $2,500-3,000 during hunting season and that lasts him a year for beer and drugs.

Ehh, there's good money in it when you have work but if you aren't known around town for doing it, it's hard to get by.

On one of those Viceland TV shows, there was some hipster girl who is a taxidermist and she had to do a bunch of side jobs to make money. She had an actual shop I think, and if you know anything about business and money, you know how much it takes just to keep a small storefront open and keep Uncle Sam happy. When not doing actual taxidermy, she would like collect roadkill for the bones and fur, clean bones and sell animal skulls to other hipsters as decoration, and then when a farm had to put an animal down (not like big beef or pork farm, think farm with a couple horses) she would come and break all that down. Plus I'm sure everything is very seasonal like two months out of the year during hunting seasons you would have to work 24/7 and the other 10mos be begging for a job.

Getting into farming with no experience or money is a huge undertaking. My friend's coworker tried it and went broke when all of his cows got sick. Another friend actually went to school for agriculture and bought a plot of land from his grandpa and seems to be doing okay, but just the land is going to cost you a fortune, then you have to pay for livestock and tractors which is going to run you hundreds of thousands of dollars. Most farmers inherit their farms.

I shoot rabbits and gray squirrels with an air rifle here in the UK. Also some birds but mostly rabbits and squirrels. I do it for a collection of farmers and land owners*. You don't need anything fancy, just an air rifle and some old dark clothes. I eat a lot of them and give them away. My girlfriend and mum made ~300 pies this summer for a charity thing using up a lot of my chest freezer meat.

I also have a shotgun and license for the occasional deer but that's a few times a year and gets more expensive with the traveling and such.

*The number one question I'm asked is how to get permission to hunt on someone's land. I simply went with friends who introduced me and just made a good name for myself. Always offer some dressed rabbits to the owner of the land.

I spent a summer panning for gold. I wasn't very good at it, but if you practice you can generally make a small living at it.
