(I thought about putting this in /tv/ but since I wanted to discuss the aspects of the actual event itself rather than the documentary I thought I'd post it here.)
So I just watched this yesterday and I was just completely amazed at what these people put themselves through to achieve such an incredible feat. I also really enjoyed how the field of runners was a huge spread of different kinds of people.
I have 0 experience doing trail hiking/marathons or anything related to it so I have some questions.
What is the opinion in the wider community on this event, is it considered one of if not the toughest test that you can do when it comes to hiking and trail running?
What did the documentary omit that was important to get a true scope of what it is really like?
Has anyone here run it and has first hand experience, or know someone who has run it and has second hand knowledge?
Basically, I'd like to be enlightened by people who know about this kind of thing.
