>>931857I've done rice, it takes as long to rehydrate as it does to cook raw, so it's not really worth it. Whole beans would probably end up being the same, but I haven't tried; I have done bean paste, which rehydrates very well, as well as chili, which was pretty awesome, but you have to make fat-free chili and add oil when you rehydrate it. Same with whole pastas (ditalini works really well); you have to make a fat-free sauce to dehydrate and put the oil in when you're rehydrating it.
Banana mango paste with banana chips makes an incredible trail pudding, especially if you put some 'nilla wafers in after. Pumpkin pie sauce can be done the same way with graham crackers (but I like it better as chips).
You can also blend up potatoes with enough water to keep it runny, add whatever flavoring you want, and make giant rectangular pringles. Grind up salt in a coffee grinder to give it that "just like a pringle" saltiness.
Final Note: Don't buy those overpriced tray liners. You can get silicone placemats for next to nothing online, they work like a charm.
