I mentioned to my dad that I needed to get a new water filter, and for Christmas he went out and bought the Katadyn pocket filter for me. Is this pretty good? He told me that the internet told him it was the best water filter in the world.

This may be a good thread to ask so, how do you remove heavy metals and chemicals from the water since the usual filters won't do that?

Reverse osmosis but it's really not effective in the bush/trip.

None is practical to go out, you should collect water where the is no chemical pollution.

Definitely not true. Groundwater can become contaminated and soil is not always an effective treatment.

In some areas the soil can be contributing to contamination and not helping at all.

The best filter in the world for water is a RO membrane with the correct pretreatment to protect the filter and improve separation.
