1) that torch is like 35 bucks - that is NOT expensive
2) it comes in 3 or 4 mode version, the 4 mode version has the sub-lumen mode - try looking harder

Red lights were needed BACK IN THE DAY with incandescent bulb torches. It was not technologically possible to have super low outputs on them. Hence, a secondary red light was introduced. It's old tech. There's absolutely no reason to use a red light other than personal preference.
If that's your preference, that's fine. Go ahead. But don't claim that it's better than a white light without proof - all you're gonna do is spread misinformation amongst newbie sc/out/s who can't discern your bullshit from truth
