Hey, be happy it's making noise. A silent Cougar is more scary than the one you hear.
I remember camping in WA with a friend. He and I are sitting around the camp fire, enjoying some beer and bud.
Friend gets up to go use the restroom. He gets up and prob walked only a few feet before turning on his flash light, a Cougar was about 20 feet from us, just sitting and staring.
Startled the shit out of me, cause it was right there. Friend and I yell at it and throws some small pieces of wood towards it, it just sits there, not giving a fuck. Finally left when friend shot off his shotgun as a warning shot.
I didn't sleep well at all that night. Prob cause the cougar made me think of my own cat. How cats are ninjas, that was a big ass ninja cat that could of snuck up and fucked us up. Rather deal eith bears, at least I can hear bears, so not much of a surprise when you hear them walking around.
