I want to do this but I can't afford land. I think I'm going to buy a large canvas tent since I might be discovered and have to move. I want to hide the tent in the middle of the forest somewhere. But then it probably wouldn't fit between the trees? I don't know, I don't want it to be discovered. I want it to be off the track where no one will find it, in a huge nature reserve. Hopefully I'll have a solar panel, battery and a fridge so I can keep food fresh and not have to live off of dry stuff. Most of these parks have creeks and rivers so if I had a large water gravity filter that would be good. and a tub to bath in.

My dad has a cabin up in the Adirondack mountains. It's pretty comfy, but minimal. It was built on the 70s purely to be a place to sleep while hunting, but he set up satellite Internet and has a gas hot water heater for warm showers. I could probably spend a month there comfortably. Longer if I could shoot some deer.

Hunting is still pretty big in France, obviously we don't have huge wilderness like in the Americas but there are still some pretty forested areas with numerous animals
My family's got a house in Dordogne, south-west France in the middle of the woods pic related, and at night the motion sensor keep activating the lights because of the animals crossing the yard. I've eaten hind meat from those woods for Christmas

ive probably got enough to buy 5-10 acres in maine or someplace similar of just land

works out best for me since i would like to build my own house/cabin/home etc

trying to decide if i should wait another year or two or five and wait for nicer land

talking about buying land outright, 10-40k in cash no loans nothing messy to worry about
then its mine to do with what i please

then build the cabin outright, i can do the majority of the work myself as long as i have a few extra hands to help with heavy lifting etc
hopefully once again, no loans, no nothing to worry about later on down the road

I want to do something very similar.

I considered Maine for it affordability, but I want to setup a homestead of sorts. Grow my own food, and I think that would be extra difficult in a cold climate.

I am considering the southeast US strictly for climate purposes.

If you find a plot for 15K or less (not too hard) and get owner financing you can be paying only a few hundred dollars a month. You can literally buy land while working a wagecuck job.

Setting up a place to live is the most expensive part by far. If you are ok with camping and roughing it there is nothing stopping you from building a small cabin over time while staying in a tent. There are guides and books for do it yourself homes.

I recommend a cheap second hand Caravan. You can buy one for under £1000, fully water proof, kitchen, bathroom with shower head and storage space.

Rip the sofa cushions out, put some MDF over the sofa base and a mattress on top. Cheap and comfy bed. You'll need a good rest each night if you're building a cabin.

Adirondacks are beautiful.

My extended senpai, over a few generations, has constructed this hunting camp/lodge up in the middle of nowhere. It probably sleeps 8-12 but is the most shitty slum-tier structure I have ever seen. One large prefab trailer sort of building from no later than 1950 and a few sheds/storage units all welded together. Has a porch and a range though, and the land is probably very valuable because it is loaded with quality timber.
