It's real, but it will take you a huge amount of time, and you will be shocked how much you will use in the way of resources.
I set out with a saw and a hatchet last spring and built a damn in my creek just to see how high I could make it. I raised it up a good 6 foot, but I used so much in the way of dirt and lumber as well as grass. I used up a good 400 square feet of dense timber for the framework and then easily 1000 cubic feet of soil and 7 bales of straw to fill it in.
