Hiking boots

Amateur hiker here.

Looking for a good pair of hiking boots with a comfortable wide-width, good ventilation, that will be able to withstand day-long rocky trails. Not sure what the best on the market is, but I've heard that Merrell is good, and I was looking at these:

Keens are better. While the toe looks stupid, it is functionally superior in every way.

Merrell makes shoes for people to walk around the city in a light drizzle in.

For wide shoes/boots of high quality, check out Meindl.
They have a whole range for every kind of hiking you could do and all of them are good. I wear the Badile, myself.

I like the pair of Chameleons I bought on 2001. They lasted until last year, with constant wear, both inna woods and inna city. Currently rockin' some Sawtooth's that I bought for another purpose. They do very well, but they are not waterproof if that is what you are looking for. Merrells are very good boots.

It's a shoe. Go to your local store. Try some on. Pick one that's comfortable on your foot.

You don't need a special type of boot for day-hikes. Virtually any brand will work unless it's ridiculously bad quality. Find one that's comfy on your foot--no internet recommendation will be custom tailored to your needs.
