As we're well into the new year, I've starting to 'get stuff together' ready for the Spring when I can start getting to get /out/ again. I've just found a very battered and dried up bottle of Jungle Formula MAX and I'm looking to replace it, possibly looking at other similar products. I've always used DEET based stuff as it's ye olde faithful but have just stumbled across Saltidin based products like Smidge- which doesn't pong, doesn't leave you sticky, doesn't eat your gear and supposedly is water resistant. Does this stuff really stack up to DEET? It seems a little too good to be true.

What insect repellent do people use and find effective? I'm not after 'alternative', 'natural', or vegan friendly stuff I want raw exterminatus grade bug deterrent here.
