dude the west is so different than the east. im pretty shitty on the east coast but the snow is so much better tin the west that i could be just 100 times more confident.

the blacks are more "serious" but because the snow is so much better its easier in the end.

brek is pretty resorty so its hard to die if you stay on the main parts of the resort. im sure there are some back bowls that are absurdly hard but i never went there.

I can ski again after 8 years since I got a job in the Alps
Didn't take much time for me to be good again, I can only go during the afternoon unfortunalely. But the skis were free and the ski lifts are half the price

Yup, just sold my board though because it was costing me a small fortune to get from the coastal range over to the cascades just to fuck around for a few hours. Another anon said it best, when you pay for a full day pass then you almost feel obligated to continue and that's a bummer...

I find that getting there early and then taking a long (1-2 hour) liquid lunch is the best way to go. It's especially enjoyable later in the season when you can sit out on a deck and enjoy the sun.

It's so fun. I finally got to go to Colorado in December. It's a magical place. I ate shit a bunch learning to snowboard, but I loved every fucking second of it. I can't wait to go back.

It was around 2000m, pretty high but it's mostly the sea of clouds that gives this impression
This one >>943367 was taken at 3200m, the top of the domain. From here you can ski all the way down to the valley at 800m without any interuption

Califag here, pic is from the one day I've done in California this season so far (Alpine meadows, Tahoe). We timed it just right for this chair.

Also did 5 days over Christmas in Shiga Kogen in Japan, before I moved back to the US.

Doing a week in Austria from the 25th of Feb. Hitting Ischgl/Samnaun, St. Anton, and Lech, any advice?

I'm a high-intermediate, ride a burton custom flying V. Always helmet.

dude if you do brek right its basically a snow field the size new England run to get to the glades. a glade twice as long as an new england groomer and then a a long ass groomer that goes right back to a lift with pretty much no line.

fucking fantastic but its going to ruin east coast riding for you for years. i pretty much refuse to go anymore unless i get the shop pass and its a "powder day"

Ice coaster snowboarder here. Working on my carving. I pieced together an hardboot setup and have been riding that more frequently along with my softboot setup. Feels amazing just railing turns.

Looking forward to a trip out west with some friends in a few weeks.

turning "on top of the snow" in your classic heel toe carves is a learned skill. get used to digging in on your turns and eventually you can start using less and less effort to carve and turn on blues and greens.

Its a whole body movement, you should feel the burn in your lower back all the way down to your calves. A lot of people I've taught use just there legs and end up with their thighs cramping up. Propper edge use and turning is absolutely the first thing you need to learn. I took a girl out boarding earlier this year, she could go hella fast down the hill, but she never learned to turn. Ill admit I laughed a bit when she ran into a lift pole

Yeah you nailed it lol, I got invited to Whitetail this Saturday by friends and I bailed.

Breck was fucking amazing, just going from the top of peak 6 down a bowl to into a wide open empty groomer where I could duck in and out of the trees is exactly why I love boarding.

We also did Vail but stuck to the back bowls and Blue Sky, and even though it had been like 4 days since it snowed, conditions were amazing.

you will most definitely not get to see the best snow days, im a local here so thats fun but because i work the busiest days i often get to get out on the less busy which is nice to avoid crowds (somewhat). The real perk of working for the mountain is that you get a season pass and most people join for that.
