How effective would a morningstar be for bear defense, or just for general protection while walking the park/taking a hike?

I would say a very very very very bad idea

Anyone seen that video of a bear scalping some poor bastard at an indian zoo? Took one swipe, less than a second and the dude ragdolled. Bears are fucking terrifying, I'd carry a .45 and some bear spray if I was expecting to see bears. Going in melee is suicide.
