With or without sticks, I'm on par wih the most footsure people I know - professional mountain guides - and if 'sissy sticks' diminish the wear on my joints, I'll be happy to let you ridicule me as much as you want. I've seen enough people go overboard in their twenties and thirties, only to have joint replacement surgery in their fifties not to make the same mistake if I can prevent it in any way.
Sure, maybe you'll turn out to be one of those few lucky people with near indestructible joints, but even with perfect walking technique your joint will suffer less with sticks, and that's what they're all about. There's a reason why I've yet to meet mountain guides who go without them.
